There’s more to camping than sitting by the bonfire and telling ghost stories while eating s’mores. Camping is a great way to have a lot of fun with friends and family, clear the mind, and relax. It’s also an opportunity to try new activities, go back to old hobbies you used to enjoy or explore the great outdoors. Here are other fun things you need to try out on your next camping trip:

Physical Sports

If you’re the kind who love to take every chance to get exercise, then you can create different types of physical activities for you and your friends to try. Some of the best physical sports to try are golfing, volleyball, football, and kickball. If you want to take time to explore the great outdoors, why not tag your friends along to go hiking, biking and—if you have a guide with you—go spelunking!

Water Sports

If you’re camping near a lake or the beach, why not join in on the fun by trying different water sports rather than just working on your tan? There are different types of water sports to try, others could be active but there are those meant for relaxing too. For active folks who love speed, you can try kayaking, water skiing, water volleyball, or boating. For those who’d rather relax while in the water, you can try fishing, snorkeling, and canoeing.

Exploring the Great Outdoors

If you are camping to take a break from the hustle and bustle of city living, then this is a great opportunity to explore the great outdoors. There is more to camping than simply enjoying the waters and playing charades, after all. It’s a chance to get close to nature so enjoy it!

You can round up your friends and go explore nature. Take your bikes or prep your gears for hiking. Go bird watching, check out fireflies at night, collect bugs or leaves, and even take pictures. One thing to remember when you’re out exploring nature is to not disturb the wildlife. That includes avoiding littering or disturbing wild animals and damaging their natural habitat.

Card and Board Games

At night, while everyone’s chilling out and exchanging banters and stories, whip out your playing cards for hours of fun. There are many types of cards games to play with friends while camping. Some favorites include Phase 10, Fluxx, Rook, Uno, and Apples to Apples. If you’re camping near the water, make sure you pack your cards in a waterproof container.

On the other hand, if you and your friends would rather play board games, your loot of old school board games like Monopoly or Snakes and Ladders will come in handy. You can also play charades, I Spy, and even Hangman or Tic-Tac-Toe.

Tell Stories

Of course, camping is never complete without scary stories about ghosts, playing truth or dare around the bonfire, as well as experimenting different ways to do s’mores. You can also whip out your guitar and play music or get everyone to dance around the fire.
