Having hours to kill in Dubai can be a blessing or a curse. If you are the adventurous type, you can use the extra time you have to explore Dubai’s amazing metro. And depending on your schedule, you do not need to go too far to experience Dubai. In today’s post, we are sharing travel tips to maximize your layover stay in this transit hub:

Exploring the Dining Options

There are dozens of lounges in the Dubai airport. If your layover schedule does not permit for lengthier tours, you can always explore the massive airport and see what fun things to do or fascinating finds to check out.

For hungry travelers, there are over 80 dining options at the Dubai airport. From casual bistros to gourmet sit down restos, the food options are virtually limitless! We love the Le Pain Quotidien in Terminal 3 Departure A gate and the Caviar House & Prunier’s Seafood Bar in Terminal 3 Gate B 27!

You can also do bits of shopping at the Emirates Terminal 3. The Duty-Free shop has everything from Rolex watches to wines and snacks!

If you want to catch some zzz’s, we recommend cooling your heels at any of the traveler lounges in the airport. Between Gates 114 and 112, is a first class lounge and a business class lounge near Gate 108. Dozens of airlines offer lounges in the airport including: Air France, Gulf Air, Emirates, British Airways, KLM and Star Alliance. In addition, there are free lounges in the Sheikh Rashid Terminal near Gates 9 and 23.

A Helicopter Tour Over Dubai

If say, you have a lot of time in your hands then do not waste it waiting at the airport. Why not go on a helicopter ride to see the city in all its glory! Several agencies offer helicopter tours over Dubai. These tours last for about 15 to 30 minutes. You can either Google the nearest tour agency in the airport or arrange for a tour before the actual trip. Either way, the helicopter tour over Dubai is one of the best ways to kill time in a layover.

Go on a Burj Khalifa Tour

Standing at dizzying 2,722 feet, the Burj Khalifa is the tallest man-made structure in the world. A tour of the tallest skyscraper in the world is a chance of a lifetime. So if you have about four or five hours to kill in a layover, we highly recommend checking out the sights at Burj Khalifa.

The Burj Khalifa features an observation deck that opens at 8:30 in the morning. You can either choose from general admission, fast track or priority access, and the “At the Top,” observation deck. The At the Top observation deck is the highest one offered at the Burj Khalifa and is the most expensive at 500 AED. You can also get a sunrise tour, which is only available on Fridays and Saturdays at 5:30 AM.

Check in a Five-Star Hotel

For tired travelers who need all the rest they can get, why not check inside the Dubai International Airport Hotel? This five-star hotel is available for one hour to overnight stay. The Dubai International Airport Hotel offers luxurious amenities such as a health club, laundry, and room service, as well as a business center.
