When it comes to caring for your tresses, you do not have to hoard expensive treatments and masks! You can achieve lustrous, soft hair on the cheap! From taming frizz to adding volume to the hair, we are listing down simple and affordable hair care tips you need to try at home:
1. Adding Volume to Limp Hair
Dealing with lackluster, limp hair? Breathe life back to lifeless hair and achieve fullness with this simple trick: Flip your (dry) hair over your head, spritz hair spray on the roots of your hair then flip it back. Do not brush your hair, rather, run your fingers through to style. Voila, instant volume that lasts all day!
2. Neutralizing Static
Static-y hair makes you look unkempt because it messes with your hairstyle. To keep your hair in place, smooth a dryer sheet on the length of your hair, from root to tip. You can also use a hair spray to stop static. To apply, simply add a light spritz of hairspray on your brush and run it through your hair. Now dampen your hands with water and run your fingers through your hair.
3. Taming Frizzy Hair
If your hair is stubborn, frizzy and hard to style but you ran out of your favorite anti-frizz serum, here’s a great trick: use a light conditioner to tame your locks. Just dampen your hands with water, add a small amount of light conditioner and apply the product to the length of your hair. The key is to keep the application as light as possible so the product will not weigh the hair down!
4. Freshen Up Post-Workout Hair
Nothing beats a shower after working out but there are days when you do not have the time to hit the shower. To freshen up and revive sweaty, oily, post-workout hair, sprinkle a little bit of baby powder at the roots of your hair. With your fingers, gently work the powder into the scalp. The powder will sop up all the excess oil and sweat on the scalp, leaving the hair fresh smelling.
5. Conceal Thinning Tresses
Do you have a thinning mane? A quick way to disguise thinning tresses without taking drugs or buying expensive hair thickening powders is by using eye shadow. Choose a matte eyeshadow shade that is closest to your natural hair color. With a small makeup brush, apply the powder directly to the balding area, carefully blending the powder in to achieve a natural-looking tint. The product can also cling to the hair strands giving the illusion of thicker, more lustrous hair!
6. Proper Hair Drying
If drying your hair with a towel leaves your hair weak and frizzy, try this trick: use an old t-shirt! An old t-shirt is made from smoother, softer material. It will absorb excess water from your hair without causing damage! Just pat the hair dry and squeeze the excess water. Do not rub the hair on the material to avoid frizz and hair damage.
7. Massaging with Coconut Oil
A great way to achieve thicker, shinier hair is to massage a small amount of virgin coconut oil on the tresses. This works especially for very dry, severely damaged, and split end prone tresses! Just apply a few drops of the oil on dry hair, wear a shower cap and leave the oil on for 30 minutes before rinsing!
