Wouldn’t it be nice to keep your jewelries, fake or not, from losing their color and brilliance? Unfortunately not all jewelries are created to last; some of them will eventually lose their color in the long run. So how can you keep them from tarnishing then? Is there a way to keep their colors as vibrant as ever?

There are many ways to keep your jewelries in good condition. Regardless if they are fake or not, you can always do something about it and its easy too. You don’t need to hire professional cleaners as you can easily get them done on your own.

Real Jewelries

For those who love real jewelries instead of fake ones, keeping them tarnish-free is easy. All you need to do is to fill a bowl with warm water and a liquid soap with pH balance. Do not use cleaners that contain vinegar, alcohol and ammonia, these chemicals will only damage your jewelries and create rust. So do avoid them.

Next, place all your jewelries in a bowl for a few minutes. However if you have jewelries with foil-backed rhinestones, do not soak them in the bowl. Instead, use glass cleaner for these jewelries and wipe them dry with a cloth.

Remove the jewels from the bowl and pat them dry with a microfiber cloth. Notice how shiny they are now? That’s because the soap and warm water removed all the excess dirt clinging on your jewelries. To store them, make sure that all your jewelries are completely dry. This way no rust may build up.

Fake Jewelries

If you love accessories and other jewelries besides the real ones you own, keeping them from tarnishing can be tough at times as there are fake jewelries that will surely fade away no matter how much you take care of it. There are also accessories that you only used once then it’s done and when you think of it, it’s just a waste of money. Now in order to keep them from tarnishing, here are some steps that you can follow.

First of all, find a container where you can store your fake jewelries. Line it with an anti-tarnish paper. Place all your accessories in this container and make sure that it has a lid. A jewelry box would be a great find if you have one. Avoid storing multiple jewelries in one container. This is also one of the main reasons why they become discolored in the long run. You can also use soft pouches when you are storing them in a container.

When you are not using your jewelries, keep the container closed. Make sure to keep them in a place where it is free from dust and out of direct sunlight. Check also for any damages in your accessories. In case there are any, make sure to repair them as soon as possible.

There are also jewelry cleaners sold in the market that can help you clean your accessories. However some of them may cause damage if not properly used. Make sure to ask for assistance on how you can use them and follow them well. So if you want to keep your accessories clean and tarnish-free make sure to take care of them well.
