Taking care of your hair is simple if you have short ones but in case you have thick, long locks then you know that you need to do something extra special for it. If you have money then all you need to do is go to the salon and let the professionals handle it but what if you don’t? In this case you need to try home remedies for your hair, one that is also natural and budget-friendly.

The use of apple cider vinegar and baking soda is believed to work wonders on your hair. If you are curious as to how you can do this then this article can help you with that.

Generally, baking soda is a great cleaning agent. It is also a mild alkali with less abrasive particles. When in use, they help break down the grease and dirt in your hair leaving it clean and healthy. Apple cider vinegar on the other hand when mixed with baking soda makes it even more potent. It balances the hair’s natural pH levels by killing the bacteria that may cause drying and dandruff. It is also a natural humectant meaning it can help hold in moisture in your hair.

How to use Baking Soda and Apple Cider Vinegar on your hair

To use baking soda in your hair, what you need to do is to place 4-5 tablespoons of baking soda in a bottle (about 400ml) and fill it with warm water. Shake it well to mix the water and baking soda so you can create a solution. Wet your hair and squeeze the baking soda solution in your scalp (not the hair). Rub it well and let it stay for about a minute before rinsing well. Make sure not to rub baking soda in your hair as this can cause drying.

After rinsing your hair, condition it with apple cider vinegar. You can do this by putting a ratio of 1:4 apple cider vinegar to water in a bottle; you can also use a spray bottle if you like but that’s all up to you. Squeeze out the excess water in your hair and spray your hair with the apple cider vinegar solution that you made. Make sure to cover all parts of your hair. Rub or massage your hair for a minute or two and let it set in for a while. Rinse it well afterwards.

Apple cider may have a strong odor but if you want to mask the smell then adding essential oils can also help. Lemon, chamomile, peppermint, rosemary and tea tree oil can help you with that.

After washing your hair with these solutions you will find that your hair is softer than before. Of course you don’t have to use this everyday as it can dry out your hair. Make sure to do this at least once every week or create a routine so you have a schedule for this regimen. Doing so can result to a healthy, shinier and softer hair than ever before. So enjoy and have fun while you’re at it!
