They say that hair is a woman’s crowning glory but having a long hair can sometimes be difficult. So what do some women do to ease their pain? Cut it! However, having a long hair should not be problem; that is if you know how to take care of your hair. Keep in mind that some people have a hard time growing their hair long so if you already have long hair, consider it a bonus! Now what can you do to keep it healthy? Here are helpful tips that you should remember.
1. Trim, don’t cut
There’s no need to really cut your hair short if you want to keep your hair long. All you need to do is give it a trim every now and them. Make sure to use a sharp pair of scissors when you do this. Understand that damage cannot be repaired even if you use the best kind of shampoo. However, you can trim the damage away and keep your hair healthy without sacrificing the whole length!
2. Use the right comb
If you have thick locks, it’s best to choose a comb with large teeth especially when it’s wet. Make sure to comb gently too as wet hair can easily break. Never use brush as this can damage your hair. If you can, do not comb your hair after shower but if you insist on it, try using products that detangles hair. Products made from organic ingredients are also the best way to detangle your hair. Never ever rip your hair off if it gets tangled as it will only be damaged. Instead, be patient; try to untangle them from the knot if you can.
3. Stay away from heating products
For those who have hair longer than shoulder length, it is best to avoid using hair dryers, curling irons, flat irons and hot rollers. Applying direct heat will cause the hair to break and split at the ends. Use them only when needed and not on a regular basis.
4. Condition them as often as you can
Use conditioner that allows moisture to be locked in the hair strands. Avoid using conditioners that have too much chemicals too. If you can find something that is made from natural ingredients, conditioners with coconut milk are usually the best kind but of course, you can find something else.
5. Avoid using too much shampoo
Some people believe that alternating shampoos can eventually lead to great looking hair; it doesn’t. It only worsens the hair’s condition. If you can, avoid using shampoo all the time as it weakens that hair but if you do, find something that is labeled as mild.
6. Give it a dose of Vitamin E
Vitamin E does not only improve skin but hair as well. You can take oral Vitamin E or apply them to your hair right away. Check out local drug stores if they have recommended vitamin E that you can use for your hair.
7. Eat your fruits and veggies
While it’s important to take care of the outside appearance of hair, eating fruits and vegetables also help. Keep in mind that fruits and veggies contain nutrients and vitamins that your body needs in producing good cells. So when your cells are healthy, your hair is healthy too.
Keeping your long hair healthy is easy, it doesn’t really require much but patience and time. Make sure that you follow these tips to achieve that beautiful hair you have always dreamed of. Good luck!
