Sabah snake grass is an herb that belongs to the Acanthaceae family. Not much is known about snake grass. But it appears that this plant comes in two varieties: Indian and Sabah Snake grass. Between the two, Sabah snake grass is known for its potent cancer-fighting compounds. The Indian and Sabah snake grass look the same. But the latter’s leaves are longer and sweeter-tasting.
Apart from cancer treatment, Sabah snake grass is also traditionally used to alleviate sore throat and gout. It also normalizes uric acid levels and prevent kidney diseases. This herb is also used to treat skin disorders like eczema, shingles, and psoriasis.
Sabah snake grass isn’t popular to the west until a viral email roused the curiosity of those who prefer traditional herbal medicine to cure cancer. According to the email, Sabah snake grass is an excellent treatment for most types of cancers. The letter has been traced to a number of sites that offer alternative treatments for cancer. But how true are these claims? Can Sabah snake grass really cure cancer?
Sabah Snake Grass as Cancer Treatment
In the east, Sabah snake grass is used to treat lung, prostate and breast cancer. According to some herbal medicine practitioners, it also treats uterus cancer and leukemia.
Some news outlets claim that Sabah snake grass works as an anti-cancer treatment. A local newspaper reports that a patient suffering from stage 4 lymphatic cancer recovered from the disease thanks to the herb. The patient was given three months to live. The patient – named Liu Lian Hui – he took Sabah snake grass juice instead of his prescribed cancer drugs.
According to Mr. Hui, he blended the herb with green apples and drank the juice every day. Three days after drinking the juice, his tumors disappeared. Thirteen days after drinking the juice, he was declared 96% cured. Mr. Hui’s story spread beyond his small village. It wasn’t long before the demand for Sabah snake grass shot through the roof.
But Does It Really Treat Cancer?
As with any type of herbal remedies, more research is needed to back up these claims. It’s unlikely that one herb can treat an incurable disease. Every person’s response to medication is different. The herb itself is different in certain regions. All these elements could affect the efficacy of the herb.
At this point, science hasn’t unlocked the fullest potentials of Sabah snake grass as a cancer treatment. More research is needed to isolate the cancer-fighting compounds in this herb. But if you must, you can always consult your doctor before taking Sabah snake grass or any type of herb. Herbal specialists recommend juicing 30 leaves of Sabah snake grass to treat stage 1 cancer. For stage two cancer, juice 50 leaves. For stage 3 and stage 4 cancer, juice 100 and 200-250 leaves, respectively.
