Oats, barley, rye and brown rice contain phytochemicals. According to Oregon State University, the phytochemicals in whole grains are associated with lowering ovarian cancer risks. They are also rich in essential nutrients including fiber. Fiber is associated with lowering the risk of colon cancer. To maximize the benefits of whole grains, start replacing refined foods with whole grain varieties.
