3. Mange

you may have seen this condition commonly in dogs living in the streets but may have no idea as to what this is all about. Mange is a skin disease of canines which is caused by several species of tiny mites. These mites are commonly found in your dog’s skin and hair follicles while others are not. The symptoms of mange may depend on the type of mite present in your dogs. Now there are two types of mange that you should know of. They are Demodectic mange and Sarcoptic Mange. Demodectic mange may cause hair loss, scabbing, bald spots and sores to canines. It is also very itchy and some may suffer bacterial infections.
A Sarcoptic mange on the other hand may cause intense itching. Because of this, dogs will become restless and frantic. They will scratch themselves often after one week of exposure. Dogs with sarcoptic mange may also have hair loss, reddened skin, scabs and body sores. Most of the time the dog’s ears, elbows, face and legs are affected with this kind of mange. It can also spread all throughout the body quickly.
The danger in this kind of disease is that sarcoptic mange can be passed on to humans. They appear like red bumps which is similar to a mosquito bite while the demodectic mange cannot be passed on.
