The lymphatic system is comprised of lymphatic vessel networks that carry a clear fluid called lymph. This liquid carries cellular waste. Because the lymphatic system is not a closed system, it is a part of the immune system and the circulatory system. Unlike other systems in the human body, the lymphatic system cannot drain fluid wastes on its own. The system is dependent on the intrinsic contractions of the lymphatic passages or forced compression to drain the fluids it carries. In today’s post, we are listing down ways to drain the lymphatic system using all-natural methods:
Regular Workout
Exercising regularly ensures the proper flow of the lymphatic fluid within the system. Again, only intrinsic and muscle compression can eliminate lymph fluids within the lymph nodes so working out ensures effective lymph flow. The best types of exercises to consider are rebounding and cardio workouts. Make the most out of the trampoline you have at home or do bits of aerobic exercise to drain the lymphatic system. Stretching and flexing exercises are great workouts to boost lymphatic flow too!
Get a Massage
Studies show that regular massage can drain up to 78% of stagnant lymph into circulation. A good massage helps eliminate toxic buildup while soothing tired, achy muscles. To ensure efficient drainage of the lymph system, have the upper shoulders, arms, and neck massaged gently. You can also try polarity therapy to improve lymph flow.

Specialized massages, like a lymph drainage massage, are the best body treatments to enhance lymphatic health. But whatever types of massage you get, make sure it is a gentle one. Deep tissue massage may feel good on the muscles, but these massages do not drain the lymphatic system as effectively.
Dry Brushing
Dry brushing does more than just eliminate cellulite and slough off dead skin cells; it is an effective method to boost lymph flow too! Brushing the skin with a dry brush boosts circulation and stimulates the lymphatic system.
Use a natural bristle brush for best results. Start by moving the brush in a circular stroke that goes upwards from the arms to the torso. Keep brushing from the fingers all the way to the chest then the neck downwards to the midsection and the legs using long strokes. Work in the same direction as the direction of the lymph flows, which is toward to heart, for best results.
Herbal Teas
Certain types of tea triggers faster, more efficient lymph flow. Wild indigo root tea, astragalus, echinacea, and goldenseal are the best teas to take when draining the lymphatic system. However, some types of herbal teas may interact negatively with certain drugs or herbs so consult a herbalist for your safety. In addition, do not take lymph-draining teas if you are pregnant or nursing without consulting your doctor.
Alternative Therapies
Alternative treatments activate the lymph nodes for efficient drainage. Apart from a lymph drainage massage, acupuncture and saunas help drain fluid wastes, fats, and toxins from the body. Acupuncture works by activating lymph flow while saunas drain wastes through perspiration.
Diet
Certain types of fruits, vegetables, nuts, and grains trigger lymph drainage too. These foods activate different organs in the body to stimulate lymph flow. Spirulina, walnuts, almonds, avocados, chia seeds, flaxseed, strawberries, grapefruit, and kiwifruit are just a few examples of fresh foods that improve lymphatic flow.
