Magnesium oil is a type of medicinal preparation made from magnesium chloride. Contrary to its name, magnesium oil is not actually oil. The mineral is suspended in water. But because the level of magnesium chloride in the solution is concentrated, it gives off an oily texture.

Magnesium is an important element of the body’s many complex biological processes. This mineral helps keep the bones healthy. It also helps synthesize proteins and retain healthy DNA and RNA molecules. Magnesium also boosts nutrient absorption and balance in the body. Magnesium is also needed for the body to absorb other minerals, like calcium. This is the reason why magnesium-deficient individuals tend to suffer from calcium deficiency too.

Essentially, this oil is meant to prevent magnesium deficiency. The oil is typically administered topically to treat certain ailments too. Below are other uses for magnesium oil:

Boosts Physical Performance

Professional athletes need an optimum level of magnesium to perform at their peak. Studies show that the lack of magnesium in the body could affect physical performance and even weight control. Magnesium oil is used to massage the whole body to relax the muscles, ease joint pain and boost physical performance. The oil also cuts recovery time in half while protecting the bones and joints from the usual strains of training.

Eases Migraine Pains

If you suffer from migraines regularly, try massaging magnesium oil on your temple. Studies show that magnesium deficiency is one of the common causes of migraine headaches. Getting your dose of magnesium helps cut the frequency of migraines in half!

Clear, Smooth Complexion

Some studies claim that magnesium oil has the ability to break apart different fats and oils in the body. And this could lead to smoother, clearer complexion. Magnesium oil also soothes frayed nerves, reducing the occurrence of stress-related skin breakouts as well as acne and rosacea.

May Prevent Insulin Resistance

If diabetes is not controlled, high levels of glucose are excreted in the urine. This causes magnesium level to go down, aggravating insulin resistance. Keeping the magnesium level of the body at its peak helps reduce the risk of insulin resistance. The oil also helps control diabetes mellitus.

Protects from High Blood Pressure

Did you know that magnesium helps regulate blood pressure? Applying magnesium oil among patients suffering from hypertension helps keep the blood pressure normal. The right level of magnesium in the body keeps the blood pressure in check.

Relieves Stress

Used as a massage oil, magnesium oil helps relieve stress, reduce anxiety and keep the muscles healthy and flexible! Magnesium contributes to a variety of neurological and physiological processes in the body. The mineral keeps the hormones balanced, protecting the body from the negative effects of emotional distress.
