1. Mt. Everest, Nepal

Of course, who wouldn’t want to visit Mt. Everest? If you want to see the tallest mountain in the world then this is the day! Mt. Everest was named after Sir George Everest who was a British surveyor-general of India. It can also be seen in Nepal and straddles in the border of Nepal and Tibet. The Tibetans call this mountain as Chomolungma or Mother Goddess of the Earth. It stands at 29,028 feet tall or 5 ½ miles above sea level. When you think about it, its size is equivalent to 20 Empire State Buildings stacked together! This mountain is about 60 million years old and once you have reached the top, you can see Nepal, Tibet and India. According to reports, there are approximately 4,000 people who tried reaching the top of this mountain but only 660 of them succeeded. So in case you plan to visit Mt. Everest (or climb it if you are as adventurous), make sure that you are equipped to do so!
