Traveling to exotic places sure is fun but if you have to endure an 18-hour flight to get to your destination, better stay comfortable. In today’s post, we are sharing great tips to maximize comfort during a long-haul flight:
Wear Comfortable Clothes
Unless you are Kim K. or Lady Gaga, sky-high heels and tight, midriff-baring clothing has no place for a long-haul flight. We recommend wearing loose-fitting clothing and comfortable shoes. Throw in a hoodie or a blanket so you can cover your eyes as you sleep. Wearing comfortable clothing and shoes ensures that you are warm and comfortable as you fly.
Use Your Headphones
Noise-cancelling headphones will come in handy on a long haul flight, especially if passengers nearby brought their toddlers along. Listen to your favorite music, watch your favorite shows, or even listen to a podcast to pass the time. Noise canceling headphones block the disturbance around you including noisy plane engines, general chatter, and crying babies. If you do not have noise-canceling headphones, get a pair of earplugs instead.

Stay Hydrated/Bring Snacks
To keep your skin from drying out and your throat from getting sore, drink as much water as you can during a long haul flight. Try to stay away from alcoholic drinks or caffeinated beverages because these drinks will only leave you dehydrated. The air quality in the cabin will also leave your skin dry as a prune! After going through airport security, make sure to carry a bottle of water with you throughout the trip and finish it. It helps if you bring along a good moisturizer and face mask to perk up the skin before arriving at your destination. Finally, bring your favorite snacks so you do not have to wait for mealtime to eat. This goes especially if you are bringing your children along for the ride.
Secure a Great Seat
Getting a good seat is always welcome. After all, you’d be spending more than 10 hours on that seat! When it comes to choosing the right seat, consider what activities you tend to do during a long haul flight. For instance, if you plan to sleep, watch movies, and play video games, we recommend getting a window seat. Disturbances are very minimal on window seats. But if you plan to walk around, stretch your legs or go to the loo, opt for an aisle seat.
Get an Upgrade
If you travel a lot, we recommend sticking to one airline to save miles. Eventually, you can use your miles to enjoy various privileges, including an upgraded seat! The more miles you save, the more nifty extras you will receive. Eventually, you will be treated like a VIP, making your long haul flight even more comfortable.
Pack Light
It is hard to pack light especially if you are heading somewhere warm. However, if comfort is the top priority, you have to curate your essentials very well. We recommend making a checklist of all the essentials and non-essential items you need to bring to your travel destination. Any non-essential item can be bought or rented once you arrived at your destination. For instance, flip-flops, towels, and basic toiletries can be bought or provided by the hotel, saving you more room for important items, like a first aid kit, skin care products, and important documents.
