There are many factors that can affect a person’s skin, and not everyone’s skin is the same. However, with a little bit of knowledge and the dedication to keep up a basic skincare regimen, virtually anyone can unlock the secret to healthy, supple, and blemish-free skin. Below are a few time-tested ways to achieve it.

1. Stay Hydrated

Proper hydration is perhaps the most important key to maintaining healthy skin. Most reputable sources suggest drinking between 4 to 8 cups of water each day—more if it is a particularly hot day or if you are involved in activities that make you sweat. Drinking water allows your body to hydrate from the inside out, preventing dry, irritated skin and aiding in the formation of new skin cells.  Aside from drinking water, eating fruits and vegetables with high water content such as berries, citrus, melons, celery, and fresh peppers can also ensure that you stay hydrated.

Staying hydrated need not be difficult. Healthy hydration can, and should include fluids from a variety of sources, including: coconut water, decaffeinated teas, herbal teas, low-fat milk, almond milk, soy milk, natural all-fruit shakes and smoothies, and fruit juices.

Each of these fluids offers vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals, and a slew of healthful benefit and nutrition, in addition to healthy hydration.
Keep hydration simple by choosing your favorites, and enjoying each of them throughout the day.
